I used a micro-usb charger I had sitting around the house this weekend and it had the weirdest effect--when it was plugged in the phone froze up. I could use the keyboard but the touch screen and the other hardware buttons (side, power, volume) as well as the home row (touch) all stopped working.
The moment I unplugged it, the touch screen worked again.
I didn't press my luck so after doing this a few times and confirming the effects, I put the charger in a drawer on its own.
I find the fastest charge is my ipad charger + a micro USB charging cable...Takes around an hour from 20% to 100%.
I've found some of the cheapo chargers available on ebay barely work or don't work at all. I don't think this Droid related - it happened to me witha BB as well.
