I rooted my phone using Z4 because it seems to be the easiest way for me to do so. I paid the $5 for Rom manager and have downloaded a couple of ROMs from the rom manager. Problem is I cannot find them to even install them. Should I not use rom manager, or am I even doing this the right way?

dont use ROM manager....it really isn't helpful for the DX...sorry you wasted your money.

download droid x bootstrap.
open it up
select bootstrap recover
grans SU access
"success!" OK
reboot recovery

it will reboot into clockworkMod recovery (black screen with green text)
use the up and down volume rocker to navigate and the camera button to select
go to backup/restore
backup
yes
your current system will be backed up
reboot when finished

now download some ROMs from your computer and move them to your phone (or straight from your phone) from these forums.

open up bootstrap
bootstrap recovery
yes
reboot recovery
navigate to wipe data
yes
navigate to wipe cache
yes
navigate to install .zip from SD card
choose .zip from sd card
navigate to the location of your ROM .zip file (if DL-ing from phone it goes to the download folder with stock browser)
select your .zip file
select yes
the rom will install
use the power button (give it a tap to go up a menu) to get to the main menu of clockwork mod
reboot phone
let it work. may take 5 minutes to boot up. sign in, and enjoy

it is also a good idea to backup your apps with titanium backup unless you dont care about your game/app data

Thank you so much for your help. In your opinion what is the best ROM out there?
