Problem with landscape mode......

Does anyone else have this problem. I'm running Fission 2.4 and whenever I'm in gmail and flip my phone to the side the phone locks up for several seconds. Sometimes it helps to turn up portrait like and then turn it over again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.........
