I can print to my HP laser printer on my home network.

Is there a relatively easy way to print to that printer when away from home?

The few articles I found seemed like they could only search for and print on printers on a cloud network or something. I want to print back to my house.

Thank you for any help or ideas or just a clarification that this is not possible.

Sounds like your wanting to setup Google cloud print. I haven't used it personally but plenty of teachers where I work do just that to be able to print from their Chromebooks. Not 100% sure that it carries over to Android though.

I do have the HP apps, but so far I only see how to print on my home network when the printer and phone are both on that same network.

I set up a friend with his Epson printer and it has options to set up email address for the printer... So when he wants to print away from home he emails the content to that address... I'm thinking HP has similar

seems to me that is what the one hp app does. I think it is called hp all in one (aio) or something like it.

Google cloud print is what you want.
Will make any old printer into a remote print service as long as you are signed into your Google account.
