Prefer Wi-Fi over Mobile Nework for Data

I have my Razr MAXX HD with 4.1.1 (System 9.1.41.XT926.Verizon.en.US) after using the IPhone for some years. On the IPhone you were able to select a parameter that said when Wi-Fi was available, use this as the referred method for sending and receiving data. Now that I don't have unlimited data anymore (no thanks to Verizon) it is more critical to use Wi-Fi for data usage.

Is there a setting on the Droid to choose this option? Or am I to presume that when I have a Wi-Fi connection that all data will be sent/received over the Wi-Fi and not over the Mobile Network?

Yes, when you're connected to wifi, you will pull data over your wifi and not use your data plan. Go into your wifi settings and select the always connect to wifi when it's available selection. It will auto connect when you have a wifi signal.
