Power Down / Lock-Up

Sometimes after charging overnight my phone won't turn on simply by hitting the "home" key. The green light that blinks indicating a new email or phone call is steady on. I can't get the phone to start by using the power key. I have to remove the battery and the hit the power key. Is this correct and I'm just doing something wrong?

You need to update to 2.3.4 what you are describing is a known bug in 2.3.3

Thanks for your advice. I'm really new to smart phones and don't want to screw something up. Is there a simple way to upgrade to 2.3.4 or should I just live with this problem and not make things worse?
