Possible sand in power button

So I went to the beach today and I guess sand got into the power button and clogged it or something, but I can't press it. Earlier I could still plug it into the wall and the screen would go on, but now it won't even go on. Right now it's off and if I plug it in it will vibrate briefly and have the charging light and the green light when finished but the screen never changes. Did I mess up the inside of the phone as well? And would the Verizon warranty cover that? Thanks
