Many people have cried fragmentation countless times when they refer to Android as a whole, but PopCap looks at it another way. PopCap, for the duration of their existence, has been working with mainly browser based games that are playable on most platforms, but now after starting work on Android, they were faced with developing for the many devices it supports and they say that was very hard. In an interview, senior game designer David Bisho, says developing for Android is like working on PC games, something they didn’t really do until we came around, while developing for iPhone is more similar to their browser games.

The whole fragmentation in hardware thing is slightly misunderstood. Hardcore PC gamers have been dealing with this sort of thing for many years. People should look at Android more in the terms of PC gaming while iOS is more like console. With iOS everything is set with the hardware and developers program for that hardware. With PC gaming, it is a fairly open range so the newest games require (for the most part) newer hardware. The only difference is that with Android at least we don't have to worry about buying extra RAM, better HDD, heaftier graphics cards and so on to play games.

What do you guys think of the way he puts it down? I think that’s the best way to explain Android’s differences.

Perfect...lol. This is what some of us have been saying for months. Ppl dont cry FRAGMENTATION when it comes to PC's, but like to mention it when it comes to Android.

Almost..lol. Look at Tegra 2 games that are optimized for Tegra 2 phones (not counting hacks like the Chainfire one) Even going back to last year, some games ran good out the box on certain phones. Angry Birds is one. Ran real well on the Droid 1 and Droid X. It needed to be tweaked a lil for the Inc. and EVO.

It coulda been because of Sense UI too but the iPhone, where Angry Birds port for Android came from, has a gpu from the same line as the one in the Droid 1 and X.
