I'm in the high 2, low 1 area.. Being in South east tx.. We get some really hard rain, with no notice.. It can be sunny out and still rain so hard you can't see 10-15 feet infront of you.. So I'd like a phone that can take it.. Also if you're sweating.. I don't want my phone to fry because i stood out in 100+ Temps and sweated it to death..

My phone stays in an otterbox defender....so if it gets wet, it's at minimum.

Water proof phone would be OK....but it wouldn't really be anything I'd choose another phone over.

NOW, a shatterproof phone....I'd finally be able to use the phone w/out a case, and I'd pay top dollar for a stylish shatterproof/scratch proof phone!!!!

honestly I want a phone I can take in the shower, swimming, to the lake, etc etc and not worry about it. I play ingress and not worrying about my phone getting wet when it's raining in Washington (when is it not?) would be wonderful

Should be standard practice on all mobile devices. Get rid of all ports, implement inductive charging, wireless sound/data transfers and adequate storage to eliminate sd media. If they can make $100 watches waterproof, no reason not to do it with $700 personal assistants.
