Plugged in while using phone

Does it hurt the phone or battery any to leave the phone plugged in while fully charged and using it? I have been watching a lot of Netflix lately and have been leaving it plugged in when watching even when it is fully charged.

When the phone is fully charged the phone kills the charge to the battery.

However I've also heard that leaving it in over night can hurt the long term battery life

I've kept my phones on the charger overnight since I had an OG Droid and never had any battery issues. In theory, yes, keeping a li-ion battery charged at 100% isn't as good for it as being in the 20-80% range, but the small impact that has on overall life probably won't even be that noticeable by the time you end up upgrading anyways.
