I'm trying to figure out how to root my thunderbolt and I want to have it run the new jelly bean software or at least ice cream sandwich or gingerbread. I have never rooted anything before and would love for someone to message me or reply with instructions or advice

What android and system version are you on? Check Settings - about phone.

As of right now im not sure. I had to send the phone back because it had some issues. When i did have the phone i went to settings and checked for an update and it said it was currently up to date. This is my first android so im not sure if there is another update that i have to download from the computer. The phone is currently on the mail and hopefully will be here this afternoon. If not i should recieve it by monday. I belive the the version was 2.3.4 but i could be mistaken.
