Please help---BOOTLOADER Loop.

Ive read many many forums, going on 9 hours, battery is close to death.

I was using my phone online, and all of a sudden it reboots to the bootloader screen (ver: 3.04)

Ive downloaded the MOTorola drivers x64, RSD LITE 4.9, and It detects phone.

I open the SBF 2.3.34 and hit start, it gets to 99% and gives me an error phone 0000
or something.

My DROID X says complete, then it reboots, and brings up the BOOTloader screen once again. No errors.

I keep restarting it and it keeps loading Bootloader 3.04. Ive reset to factory least 10 times, before and after the FLASH. CLeared cash, still nothing. KEEPS booting the boot loader.

I DID at one time have Z4root, the instant root , im fairly sure I did the UNROOT option. SO im almost positve it wasnt rooted at time of failure.

IM currently on UBUNTU. I ran through the terminal, everything said 100%, no errors, but STILL it boots the 3.04. Can someone give me any Insight?

Little info:

Windows 7x64, USING front USB ports on pc.

Its a Droid x, running 2.3.3 last time i checked. Im not sure if it ever updated to GB?

I did drop the droid in the bathtub (Natty ice ) it was submerged, dried out 2 days later worked fine, but since then the battery wouldnt hold but for 3 hours tops.

No other problems until now

Please someone help me.

one more thing, What are my options? Its a refurb droid i bought for 167.00

I have accidental damage insurance, but thats $100, thats like buying another phone.

can I take it to verizon and they reset it for me or will it cost?

Should I try installing the GB SBF? all I know is bootloader 3.04 is either GB or 2.3.34,

NOTE: when I hold Home+Power, it says E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

One simple thing, is use your back USB ports that are directly on the motherboard. This has made a difference in my experience.

If you use the GingerBread SBF it will take you to unrooted stock GB. If you want root access you need the FroYo .340 SBF file and then go with the 2 part rooted .596 zip.

Since you dropped the phone in water, it may have screwed up something and that is why the SBF is not working. My suggestion is try the direct USB ports, and see what someone with more experience than I has to say.

While not every case is the same, in my experience the problem seemed to be caused by dirt/debris buildup around the camera, power, and volume rocker buttons. I took my phone apart and cleaned it out; so far it has been booting normally and hasn't booted to the boot loader screen unintentionally since. I know the prospect of taking a phone apart might make most people cringe, but there are youtube videos that show the step-by-step process. Just take each step slowly and once you're done you shouldn't be able to tell the phone was ever taken apart. This is, of course, a last resort if you don't have any other options.
