Does anybody know of an app that will allow me to stream music from my media player through the radio of my car? I have a 14 got drive to new mexico and I'd love to listen to whatever I like =)

If your radio doesn't have a 3.5mm auxiliary jack or Bluetooth capabilities, you'll need to be looking at interfaces with FM modulated options.

No problem! FM modulated means that, since a direct connection isn't possible, it will interface via the FM on your radio either directly or wirelessly. So basically, you'd tune your radio to like 87.7 to listen to your media from your phone. Your music will be lacking in quality but, it'll at least get you by :)

So...how would I get my music over to the radio though?

You have to buy the FM modulated piece. I believe you can get them cheap at Wal-Mart or Radio Shack.

Be careful with all the fires down there. You might just be better off playing through the phone speakers than what he suggest. should be higher quality

FM modulated devices

I have tried those devices. This is plural because I have purchased several of them trying to find one that would work. None of them were satisfactory because of radio station interference. If there is a radio station broadcasting on the frequency you have chosen it will easily overpower the transmitter in these devices. I never realized there were so many radio stations broadcasting religious programming around the clock. You will even get audio from TV broadcasts.

Just my $.02 worth.

Thanks Pmoser, I'll try and stay away from fires :) and I might, but is there an app to make your phone even louder?

Hmm... I'm starting to lean towards just using the phone speaker

To get a good fm modulator you need to get a direct wired one. What that means is it is hard wired through the antenna in the car with enough power it blocks out over the air radio. Then you plug an adapter cable from your headphone jack into the plug on the dash of your car. I have one in my truck and in the wifes car for her Iphone and my dinc. Bestbuy sells them installed for about 150.00 and is by far the best option. Trust me I have tried it all!

@drtnsnw - If you're gonna spend $150 why not just buy a new radio which has bluetooth or at a minimum a front aux jack??

If you plan to listen to your phone for more than five minutes you're gonna want to use an external speaker. BestBuy and every other electronics store sells portable mp3 speakers for less than $20.

On second thoughts you might have luck with the radio now that i think about it new mexico and the states around it our not to populated so the interfreacne shouldn't be to bad.

For 2 reasons. 1 I didn't spend that much because you can buy the unit for 50 on Amazon and install it yourself. 2 it would cost me alot more than 150 because I have factory Sirius.
