Using htc Incredible as MP3 player in vehicle

I have a USB port in my car and was thinking there's got to be a way to stream from my phone to my car.

Ideas were...using some combo of shoutcast with winamp app, my laptop and phone to stream.

Or, does an app exist that would simply let me listen using the USB cord itself.

Any more inventive ideas about this?

If you're wanting to control the music from your phone, you will have to do something other than USB to transmit, the phone cannot see the contents of the SD while the head unit is using it.

Do you have an auxillery input (RCA connectors) on the head unit? Then you could get a 3.5mm headphone jack to RCA cable.

Or you could get an FM transmitter to do the same if you don't have Aux input.

You could attempt to 'mount usb' on your device while the USB is plugged into your head unit. This might allow the head unit access to the SD card to be able to play music.

I use the RCA option to playback in my car. FM Transmission quality is crappy. Gave that up a while ago. But with no other option it's still better than nothing.

Cassette adapter thingy works fine in headphones jack. Got a cassette player?

Forgot about this... not the best quality but still better than an FM transmitter.

... only problem is most newer model cars don't have cassette decks any longer.

Does the vehicle have integrated bluetooth? If so, stream it that way. Works like a champ in my Ford.
Pair device with vehicle bluetooth, enjoy!

I just use an aux cable, but you could mount the usb on your droid and your HU should be able to read it that way.

I have a usb port on my HU and plugged in my usb drive once, it read fine.
