Physical Keyboard, @ "search" and alt keys not working

Hi,

Just got a refurbished Droid sent to me because my audio jack on my first droid was cutting out. Now, on the physical keyboard the @ symbol, the search key directly to the left of @, and the left alt key do absolutely nothing.

Is there some out of the box setting that I am missing that needs to be changed?
