Another problem I have found is every once in a while the phone just reboots, is this normal, I have seen it do it at least 5 times in the month I have had it, who knows if it does it other times

No it is not normal. This is called a bootloop. Contact the ROM Dev about it if you are running a Custom ROM.

what do you mean by a custom rom

I mean like Bugless Beast or CyanogenMod. If you do not know what these are, and you are not rooted, then you need to contact a Verizon or Motorola representative and ask them how to fix the problem.

No custom roms yet for the DX. As for the boot loop, are you completely stock/rooted/running the new bootstrap?

whats a bootstrap, my software is up to date, waiting on the software update which I see is pushed back to september now

One of the devs created a bootstrap which makes it one step closer to having custom roms, but currently gives access to the recovery. Since it sounds like you're bone stock, you don't need to worry about it.

As for the reboots, is there any consistency on when it happens? (night of the full moon, every 3 weeks, after certain apps are shut down)

Way it sounds he has a stock phone and probably should take it in to get looked at and or replaced.

when it happened today, I was writing a text, last time was about 4 days ago I was at my desk at work and looked down and I saw the motorola symbol come up the the droid eye and it came back

If you are totally stock. I would take it in to Verizon.

If it keeps happening I will do that, I took it in once to ask about it getting hot when it charges, but even that is inconsistant

Another thing you can try is a full factory reset. It will come up like when you just opened the box. Could be a software issue.

If saved on SD card then no. If only on phone, then yes.

I will have to try that, thanks for the tip, if that dosnt help I will take it in to Verizon
