Phone Cooling

Got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus that I continually use for Wifi Tethering. The only problem is that it tends to run hot and sometimes reboot since it's continually being used. Is there a way I can fix it with an app? Or is there a cooling dock I can use (like Laptops use)? Thanks!

I haven't seen any coolers directly targeted for smartphones, but any laptop/netbook cooling fan dock would work.

Also, for your device to potentially run cooler, you can reduce the amount of running processes (read: apps). Just go into Settings->Apps, then go to the page that shows running processes and stop the ones you know you don't need.

wifi tethering a pretty demanding process in itself, I don't think shutting down other apps would help too much.

Definitely get a laptop cooling fan or a regular desktop fan and have it aimed at the Nexus. It should help, but it's still going to run hot.

An additional question:
How do you all keep the phone from overheating when using it as your GPS on a long-distance trip?
Thanks!

I recently took a trip down to SoCal. Hundreds of miles were just a straight shot down the road so I turned off my screen. That helped quite a bit and when I turned it back on, it updated quickly and got me directions I needed quickly.

I've never had any of my phones overheat and restart on me when using GPS, but they did get quite warm.
