After initially liking the fingerprint scanner, I have grown to hate it. No matter what I try I always get errors. This occurs especially when my fingers are wet. If they are wet I usually give up and enter my code without bothering to try. This is especially frustrating as I see people succeeding on YouTube with water all the time.

So this is what I did. I registered to wet fingerprints, one for each thumb, when I set up my scanner. Problem solved! Now it reads my prints when they are wet, and it (seems) faster and more accurate when they are dry.

Disclaimer: I have bragged about how much I like the scanner before, so take this with a grain of salt. It seems to be working though.

Thanks! I have encountered the same problem with our Galaxy S10e.

The hint I read said to set up only one or two fingers multiple times. I had problems with my G7 before and now it works better that way.
