I have VM app on my Droid, and didn't see a need for it. I tried to uninstall through "application mgmt" and it went through usual stuff to uninstall. It still showed on my app icon list, though. I clicked on it to see what happenend and it now displays "upgrade." I read the other comments on the app page, and I see others with same problem with uninstalling. Why is this doing this, and what can I do if anything? Thanks for your help.

Are you talking about Visual Voice Mail? There are certain apps that come with the phone that cannot be uninstalled, and I would think voice mail would be one of them. Just like you can't uninstall the actual "email" app or the original messaging app.

Thanks for your help. What is the best way to optomize this app then? Is it really useful to just eliminate calling your VM - I guess I was just used to doing this.

Can't suggest you do ANYTHING with this app. Just leave it alone. Verizon charges $2.99/month for the service associated with the app...

Or you could opt out of it and get google voice ;) That's what I did ... and it is now the default VM. And offers typed VM (not perfect but gets the point across), and you can play it over your internet connection to save precious precious anytime minutes
