Ok, seriously, the weather

I've done every combination of sync I can and the damn weather just won't stay on the screen. it's infuriating. I know others had this problem and it seemed to rectify itself on it's own, mine just shows a sun briefly then I get the "no weather data available." Am I in the one spot in the country that all of a sudden doesn't get weather? it started after the update.

While I'm crying like a little baby, what is mobile im, and why is always running? I've never once opened that app. thanks

Are you talking about the Sense Clock/Weather widget? And what do you mean it won't stay on the screen?

mobile IM is just an IM client where you can sign into a handful of different IM services... Windows Live, Yahoo, etc...

the standard clock/weather widget. before the update, it would display the temp, and the icon representing the weather type. I had it set so that when i clicked the sun for instance, it would update to the current temp and everything. Now, if i click the empty spot where the weather used to be, it shows the temp/icon for about 15 seconds before saying "no weather data available." i tried every option of weather sync, and nothing works. i even changed the widgets, nothing. i dont really feel like downloading a crappy weather widget to see if that one works, i like the stock version.

also, why is mobile im always running though? i dont use any of those services, nor have i ever. is that something to do with my stock text messaging app?

And the IM is part of the system application so you can't permanently stop it. If you aren't using it, it won't affect your battery.

Several people have reported problems with the weather and also with the clock app attached to the sense widget. I for one have lost the clock app the runs when tapping on the hours in the widget. It all happened from the update. Its a bug that will have to be fixed by HTC and Verizon. If enough people call HTC directly about the problem I'm sure it would trigger some kind of fix. It worked for the north/south direction issue in maps. Unfortunately its just something we are going to have to deal with for a while.

btw, outside of these 2 things, im about all out of complaints for now, so that's good.

only other nitpicky thing i find incredibly annoying is when i start a new text message and just say i want to text my friend "james" when i hit the initial j, he's not the first to come up. names with random j's in them come up before him. How is "Grandma," above "mary" when i do that?

as long as im not the only one. that's a pain, really liked the look of the weather right there on the main screen. oh well, it could be much worse I guess. thanks

The gingerbread sense clock seems to do that at times. With the tbolt running a gbread rom I have come a cross where the weather would not update saying it could not determine my location. Just give it a few hours and it will rectify itself.

nah it's been like that since the update

Go into settings and locations and make sure all locations are checked. Turn on GPS and give it about 2 mins and try it again.

Has anyone noticed the alarm clock no longer works when you try to click the clock widget on the home screen? Also I tried to set the weather part of the clock widget to a set city but whenever i click "Add City" it errors and says the clock widget has stopped working.

I contacted HTC, I at first believe it was a gingerbread update bug (since i read the HTC forums and someone said something about the clock widget not working correctly) but the rep said that GB shouldn't have affect either one and that i MUST use GPS weather instead of setting the city. Anyone have this problem with the clock widget? I'd rather turn my GPS off.

My clock and.weather works fine.

Weather and Clock/Alarm widget working fine for me as well. Updates when going to the weather screen via tapping the sun (or whichever weather icon appears). I travel to various cities during the day, and it's pretty quick to update from city to city as well.
Tapping the hour brings up the various clock settings, adding a new city works fine. Alarm works fine...
I do leave the Gps on though...
Un rooted 2.3.3

but if gps needs to be on, why didnt it have to be on before the update? seriously, im nitpicking, b/c if i click i can still see the current weather (for a brief few seconds) but not having the icon on my home screen really annoys me.

I dont even really understand the gps, if someone can give me a good tutorial, that would be great. i used it once, but i clicked like 15 different options to finally get to a speaking map, and i have no clue what i did. google locations, vzw locations, some other locations option, i dont know what's going on.

I just go straight in to the navigation app if I want turn by turn directions. You can just type or speak your destination, it usually finds it pretty well.

And yes as others have mentioned my alarm and clock app are gone after the OTA (flip clock and weather are still present), factory reset didn't fix it either. HTC knows of the bug. I downloaded a third party alarm and it works great. It's called Alarm Clock Plus buy cvp.
