"Ok Google" Question

Ok, so I've already learned that the regular "Ok Google" is highly sensitive. But, my boss was commented her husbands Samsung phone, not an S5, has something on it where he will say "Google, what's going on" and Google will answer him, like if he has email or a text. Is there something like that on the S5? and if so, how do I activate it?

Could it be an app that's installed, other than Google's own app?

What have you tried after saying "OK Google"? Have you tried, "Ok Google, what's going on?" Or "OK Google, what's new for me?" Or something like that.

If OK Google doesn't do that, does the S Voice do that?
