OFFICIAL Droid X 2.2 Solutions/Issues Thread

Battery life is 10x worse than when I had 2.1. I can hardly make 1 2 minute phone call without losing 10% of battery power. I have my mode set to extreme battery saver and no task killers...this is awful. What us the point of having such a great phone if you can only get like 4 hours of power out of it??

Are you facebook contacts synced to your phone contacts?

Check settings/applications/running services, see if blurphotodownloadcontact (i think that's what is says) is running. this was a bug with the leaked version, as well as the droid 2 froyo version, and was hoping they would get it fixed.

My default browser was running flash.....dolphin was not.

This was the same with the leak...hopefully dolphin addresses this and makes it so we can use flash with their brower, otherwise they may get pushed to the way side.

EDIT: Never mind...in dolphin go to settings/advanced settings/enable plug ins. set to always on.

Apps from Market after 2.2 update...

OK, so I did the update today and went to the market. Under Downloads, I don't see all the apps I have on my X, but I see most of them. I'm assuming the ones I don't see do not support 2.2 yet. Is that correct?

@garath,

That fixed my problem. I *never, ever* would have guessed that solution.

Thank you!

Yes, that fixed mine too. Thanks garath!!! I, too, would have NEVER figured that out. I have a feeling that will a popular problem on here with 2.2 users on corporate exchange. I was freaking out about having to enter a darn PIN every time I picked up my phone.

can you tell me how did u do it. i logged into my outlook client on my pc and went to options and didn't see any mobile profiles. what am i missing?

I have a rooted 2.1 and i downloaded and tried to install ota 2.2. It said install failed.

I unrooted my phone and it still failed. What can i do to install it?

PROBLEM: My swipe screen (to unlock the phone after resting) cannot be used without being attached to another security method. If I disable locking I open right to my home screen.

In 2.1 we had the option to disable to swipe screen to unlock the phone but that option is now missing.

GO TO Location and Security Settings>Set Up Screen Lock. If you disable scrren unlock security you lose the swipe at the beginning. IT only comes back if you enable some other methos of protection but does not return on it's own.

Any clarification would be great. I had an Exchange Account that required a password which I deleted too...so I didn't think the issue would persist.

Suggestions?

I also am seeing NO improvement in browsing. I'm trying to view a picture from a website that isn't huge, I have full 3G connection (Arrows going in both directions) and full bars. This is happening on many pages.

I solved it! It is an activesync "quirk", not a fault of the phone or the 2.2 update.

You have to delete any previous phone sync data/profiles from your exchange account. I did this by logging into my webmail app, navigating to options > phone and deleting all instances of phone sync info. I rebooted my phone, synced up with corporate sync, then went to settings for screen lock. All options were available.

Is this something I do on my phone or on each email account? Is it just the exchange accounts or the pop3 accounts too? I can't cant find anything to delete phone sync info.

This isn't on the phone. It is a profile/log on the exchange server. We have the latest webmail app for exchange (very Office 2010 style) and under options there is a section called "phone". When you view it it shows all phones that you've had connect or attempt to connect to your exchange account. You should just delete all sync profiles for phones, especially the DROID X ones. Then have your phone connect to the account again (it will re-sync) and all should be good.

If you have an older webmail interface you may have to have your administrator delete those phone profiles...I'm not sure.

Smart Sensor fixed?

Anyone know if the permanently silenced ringer glitch has been fixed with the official froyo?

I haven't heard anyone comment on this yet? A BIG problem in the 2.1 was that the double tap and face down to silence ringer options would permanently silence the ringer. This was activated under: settings> sound & display> smart sensor settings

On the majority of the DX's in the community, once one of these features were activated and used once to silence the ringer, it would not reactivate to sound for new calls. It would only vibrate. (even after reboot, battery pull, or if features were deactivated in settings again) The only fix was to reset the phone to factory condition.

Anyone know if this has been fixed? Thx!

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be working for me. I don't see that option in OWA. Argh!

Same issue on Linksys router

So now after the 2.2 update it wont stay connected to my Net Gear router. The router is only a few months old. I tryed forgetting the network on the DX and resetting the router, I also restored it back to its factory defualts. Still everytime it connects then i go to refresh my facebook up it loses the connection and it repeats for any app that pulls from the net. Even the app store makes the connection do this. Any ideas?

Short of removing security, I am in an online chat with Motorola for a fix I hope?

I'm about 2 steps away from doing a hard reset just to get rid of this...

You are on an older exchange/webmail version. That data is probably somewhere on the server, but you can't access it. Contact your admin.

Another idea is to delete your corporate sync account, reboot, change your lock settings, and add the corp account again. That may not fix the "remote admin" issue, but it should give you a chance to reset your screen lock...maybe.

Calorie Counter App

After installing 2.2, I got so annoyed with the security pattern problem, I did a hard reset. The security pattern is back, but my favorite app, Calorie Counter by Fatsecret, isn't available anymore on the market. Anyone know where I can get the file to download this again? My stomach thanks you
