Odd problem with ringer

Yesterday my phone stopped ringing. Went thru the various threads here and elsewhere, trying everything (multiple hard resets, some app that was recommended to kill processes, set it back to factory settings 3 times and twirling a dead chicken around my head while chanting "Motorola"). It would ring if I had headphones plugged in, but not thru the phone speaker. Using another Droid in the family (we have 5) I was on the phone for a long time with Verizon tech support, they finally said they'd send me new phone. Went to bed, plugged it to the wall charger like I always do and this morning it's ringing.

Unless my cats screwed around with my phone while I was sleeping, I can't explain why it's working now. I don't think the cats did anything, by nature they're shiftless creatures and not interested in the human struggles with technology.

Anyone got any ideas?

I "solved" my no ringer problem with my Jawbone ear gizmo. I've got a ring now, as long as I have this geek thing stuffed in my ear. I chalk this up to the early adopter experience - hopefully it'll get better with time.

do you have it set to vibrate to notify also...on my old droid if I used headphones it would screw up certain ringers...keeping the vibrate on also seemed to solve the problem for some reason. I would still get new phone but this might help til new one arrives if it works.

Tried that - didn't work. I even tried it while twirling a dead chicken around my head, still no go. My phone won't ring and Verizon bull****ted me into thinking I'd have a new one yesterday - now they're saying no shipment until the 30th. That's 3 weeks with a piece of **** that won't ring.

It's ringing again - worked all day. The only thing I did was put it in airplane mode while I was flying, and take it out when I landed. It's much more useful when it rings.
