Odd behavior

Just curious if anyone else may have encountered some odd behavior as I have. Last night I fell asleep with pandora running and woke up to find my phone was rather hot. It had been charging all night. I stopped pandora and ran ATK to make sure all unneeded apps closed as it seemed my driod was acting rather sluggish. I then had to run to a meeting, and droped the phone in my pocket. about halfway into my meeting I noticed that my pocket felt rather warm checked the droid and nothing was running it was in suspend mode with the screen blank (normal)

anyways, after my meeting I started noticing the heat was constant and the phone was getting more and more sluggish.. first thought was some app was running in the backgound so I again ran ATK and killed all running apps, but the phone was till laggy touch screen was not very responsive. etc.

well about an hour ago I decided to call VZW and they offrered to send me a new battery free of charge, so I graciously accepted, but was not contet that was necessarily the correct solution. About 10 min later while trying to send a text the phone went all wonky and after several attempts with increasing unresponsiveness I got the text out and have a VM come in. After checking my VM is when it hit the fan... all of a sudden unresponsiveness got so bad I rebooted the phone.

afer it finally rebooted it was still acting crazy so I started uninstalling apps and watching as the phone would intermittently freeze then respond then freeze then respond. I decided to start uninstalling any new apps, and after about the 3rd uninstall the phone blew a gasket and my notification bar at the top started flashing different shades of green and back to grey. nothing I could do would get the device to respond... Was very much like when a computer is hacked.

Anyways I powered the device back on and it just sat there stuck at the droid eye splash screen and would not boot. By now I am freaking out thinking my new droid just bricked itself... I have not even tried to root it either... Fortunately I had run a backup of the contacts, so I proceeded to reboot the phone into restore mode (pressing power and home key during startup) and reset it back to factory image... (good trick to know incase you lock it up trying to root it

All is fine now phone is working ok, and I have resynced my email and exchange mailboxes, but still have to wonder what the hell happened...

Has anyone else experienced this and did they happen to make a note of what caused it, or is it even possible I got a app with a virus that allowed my phone to be exploited until I did the factory reset?

Being a Systems Engineer. I know this kind of behavior... and in my experience on desktops and servers it is a tell tale sign of having a virus or being hacked outright.

if anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it

I didn't run into the SAME symptoms u did, BUT I too experienced something like this today.... I don't know why but when I got outta the shower and ate some lunch I go to check my phone and noticed its off (apparently dead which made no sense cause it was charged).... I leave it off and charge it.... later I turn it on (while charge) and notice somehow while checking my phone now and then (just messin around) that somehow the battery life was dropping while the phone was running and plugged in.... I tried removing the battery thinkin its a weird glitch.... restart still not fixed... logged outta facebook and tried to kill some Apps via Task Manager..... still nothing.... after that I try to just turn off the phone and restart it.... phone freezes while trying to restart and NOW I'm in the situation when you start the phone up you get stuck at the loading EYE screen..... I would do a complete factory reset, BUT can I get all of my Apps that I paid for back or?.... how does that work... I don't want to BUY all my old Apps again.... I read some places say you should able too for free if you use the same gmail account..... but some others say they had problems with it and it didn't work.... do you personally have any experience with this?.... Should I do the factory reset or contact Verizon?.... -Spikeman666 Edit: just did a factory reset and hopefully re-building my phone won't take TOO long.... not sure why... I shoulda wrote the error down but when doing the factory reset it said something like.... Error loading: E// something cache/recovery or something?.... idk if u also saw that... OK WTF y does the ENTER function on my posts not work?.....

I saw that too but after my OS reloaded everything was fine... Just like when it came out of the box. had to redo activation and progreamming. Dunno about paid for apps I do not have any yet.

I am probably the last guy to ask for advice about these phones right now I am still learning it inside and out. Give me a couple weeks and I'll be more helpful... still in the break in phase

I saw that too but after my OS reloaded everything was fine... Just like when it came out of the box. had to redo activation and progreamming. Dunno about paid for apps I do not have any yet.

yea I ended up doin a factory reset and everything is fine now, and since i used my same google email account they saved my Apps and let me re-download them in the Market Place (though you need to do this before downloading any new apps else you'll have to search for them all over again) and didn't have to pay for the Apps again....

not sure what the issue was but finally got the PIN thing resolved too and everything is fine now! think it might have been something stupid or bugged with Facebook not sure.... to be safe I haven't installed the App again and just gonna use the online one for now...

you know now that I think about it this all started after I installed the facebook app.... think I'll stay away from it. Sides the embedded moto app does just finew for allowing me to do FB stuff even if it is bloatware
