Hi all,

Just got my first Android phone (Droid X) and I'm excited to start figuring out its capabilities.

I figure step one is to clean out all the bloatware and any other app that has better alternatives. Is there a guide for what stock apps are worth keeping?

Also I'm anxious to root this bad boy, but I figure it's prudent to wait a week or two for good, safe options for 2.2. I'm susceptible to tricking myself into thinking I know more about my gadgets than I actually do, so I'm fearful of jumping into rooting right away. Is this a reasonable course of action?
