I have #4 on my email icon, but I do not have any unread or read emails. All 3 accounts are empty. I have done the power off on, and the reset.
Phone upgraded to jb a couple of days ago. This showed up yesterday.
Any answers? Thanks!

I've seen this on my phones from time to time. I usually have to go to the Web (either through the phones browser or on a pc) & mark them read to clear it up.

I have no idea where those unread emails are being buried but...

On the stock Gmail app, if you go to “show all labels" then select "all mail" you will find the buried unread emails and you can clear the notification count.

I agree with this. I sometimes end up having something in my inbox on the online GMail account but it doesn't always show on the phone.

All those unread emails are from the email chain... Like my Twitter account sometimes sends me two emails at once when I get a number of replies very fast... For some reason Gmail doesn't mark both emails as read so I have to mark them read on the computer or through Gmail on chrome
