Notification light(s)

Right, that is my understanding...
So, if your phone is sitting on your desk or on/in a wireless charger, etc. - there will be no blinking colored light to let you know you have notifications...
You actually have to go to the phone (wave your hand over it, etc.) to see if you have any notifications...

No. You will see it "Pulse" the notification symbol at you in a size and shape easily recognizeable. I'll be honest once I learned what it was doing and my options - I love it.
It makes a blinking light seem rather primitive. I can see from a distance what it is/was that happened and make my decision. Blinking light, you don't know what it is.
OK, that is not my understanding though...
The notification symbol does not stay on your phone that long - like a blinking colored light did.
After your "time out setting" - the phone goes to blank - and you cannot see the notification symbol.
Where you could see the blinking light.

With "Approach" turned on If you think you have missed a notification a simple wave over the screen will light up the active display and show if there are any notifications.

Nope. It pulses about every 7 seconds . Very cool.
Screen fades on for about 2-3 seconds and fades out (every 7 seconds) symbol for "missed call" Touch the screen and either let go (ignore) or swipe to Unlock or the other way takes you right to the area in question (text, call, email, etc)

Indefinitely though? How long did you let it pulse before touching it?
Sorry. Active Display intrigues me a great deal. Not enough for me to wanna give up my shiny new Note, but you know...

I waited several minutes. I'm not sure when/If it times out. I do know it doesn't take much to make the normal "come-on" activate. As an aside, it is a neat function and one that indears the phone (to me) I don't think I'd swap a device for the function but, it was a nice surprise.
Actually, there's another option, too. Here they all are. After touching the screen to see more info about the notification you can:
- release and do nothing (it will continue to pulse with that notification - until you eventually view it. It will not time out)
- swipe up (it will go directly to that specific notification. Text, email, etc)
- swipe left or right, to dismiss that notification (it will no longer pulse as a new, unread notification)
- swipe down (will go to home screen, or unlock screen if locked)

And just to verify the notifications are indefinite. I've woke up with notifications from hours earlier still pulsing.
