Notification LED issues with email

Not getting the LED with new email when the phone is sleeping. Pushing the power button to wake the phone then allows the LED to flash, but of course I would like it to light when the screen is off. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? Already turned settings off/on and rebooted.

got another mail and led works fine asleep? I have to say knock on wood, not having the issues most report...right now even with minimal use phone been off charger 12 hours and at 62% battery left
