Notification for for new SMS message without notification for new E-mail

I get E-mail all times of the day and night, text messages less frequently, and I'd like to have a sound when a new text come in, without having a sound every time a new E-mail comes in. Is there a way to configure the default apps to do that, or alternatively, is there an-add on SMS app that will do that?

Sorry if this is a repeat question - I just joined and didn't see anything like it already posted.

go into your E-mail app... press Menu > settings > select ringtone > scroll to 'silent' and select. No more audible E-mail alerts but you will still get the blinking LED and the notification in the notification bar a top the screen!
