Not receiving texts unless rebooted

My thunderbolt is having an issue with receiving text messages. I have not rooted my phone or anything like that. I use the stock text messaging app. and I do not have a task killer or anything running. If I restart my phone, sometimes I will receive the message from the last person that texted me but only that one message. My phone will then work for a bit but then do the same thing again. I was wondering if there was any way to fix this seeing as it is very, very annoying.

Standard procedures of battery pull, and factory reset may be in order. I would try a battery pull then if that doesn't work try a factory reset. Could be an app causing it.
