Not impressed, again. (GB)

It's GB still has problems.
Vm notifications obviously is one.

I am getting random shutdowns.

Mobile network seems to be the same, no improvement in speed or connectivity.

And the battery life still sucks, no improvements there.

Anyone else?

Fat chance on that one, especially since no one forced you to buy this phone.

I downloaded and installed the GB update last week on two Thunderbolts. Haven't had any problems with reboots on either of them, although the voicemail notification doesn't work. On my Thunderbolt, however, I did have an issue where after about an hour or so, the phone would pop up a warning message that the SD card was unexpectedly removed from the handset and would not detect the SD card until a reboot was done. I backed up the card and reformatted it and the problem went away. I have noticed an improvement in the battery life. The first day or two after the update, the battery life seemed worse but it had dramatically improved since then. I have the extended battery in my phone and I plug it in every night when I go to bed (so the phone is unplugged for about 16-18 hours. Before the update, the battery would typically be at about 20-30% when I go to bed. Right after the update, it was at around 10-20%. The last two nights, the battery was around 50% when I went to bed.

I see this often around various fora, and I don't understand why anyone would think or expect VZW to do this.

Because they want someone else to take responsibility for their impulse buy.

this phone is awesome but doesn't shine until you root it. Froyo was great once the bloatware was gone and Gingerbread seems to have no issues now that I'm running BAMF Forever

and no you shouldn't have to root your phone to be happy with it but that's the way it is...

I have to say, I have nothing to complain about now. Of course, the VM indicator is an issue, less for me that for others, but my phone has been stable, my battery life is improved to some degree, and my text messages go where they are supposed to now. The lag that I used to experience in the messaging program seems to be gone as well. I'm not sure what else I could ask for from this phone.
I would really like to have Sense 3.0 or 3.5 without having to root, but that was never promised.

I really liked the phone before I rooted it and i love it with bamf forever.

I never had the random reboots, but the battery life is great with bamf now.

Im not having issues with VM notifications. I'm now having issues with the proximity sensor. As soon as I put my phone up to my ear, speakerphone, mute gets initialized. Such a pia.
