No task killers- so how to stop processor hogging?

I understand there are no task killers with Android. What I am having problems with is not having this Droid X's processor being hogged.

My biggest complaint about this phone is how unresponsive it is. There are times when I just want to open my email app or something similar which used to be less slow, and I am waiting several seconds before the app loads. Is there a way I can see what apps are using what percentage of the phones processor?

I saw something which looked like it might do this in the battery info but everything was a very small number- certainly not percentages which added to 100.

Try OS Monitor from the market. It gives you ridiculous amounts of info.
I wouldn't leave it on all the time though as it is a drain on resources also
