No T9 dialing?

Hi:

Maybe I'm missing something. I like the look and feel of the native dial pad, but I can't figure out how to make it a T9 dialer (auto-complete when typing in a contact name). I downloaded an app that does it, but I don't like the interface as much. Anyone able to do this?

It must not be available on the stock phone as almost all, if not All, of the custom roms list that as a Feature they've added.
