no service/ airplane mode

i just got the droid today and i cant use it.... i cant make any calls or txt because it says its in airplane mode..... i try to turn it of but it doesn't turn off..... any suggestions??????????????

You poor thing. Have you tried a battery pull for at least 30 seconds? That should do it. Go ahead and try it..........

So you just got it today, and it came like this - in airplane mode - or did you put it in airplane mode?

OK, go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks and see if Airplane mode is checked. If it is, uncheck it.

Tried that it wont stay unchecked keeps turning back on

OK, then a factory reset is your best bet. Go to Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset. If that doesn't work, then take it back to Verizon.
