hold the power button down until the menu pops up and turn off airplane mode.

a way to tell if airplane mode is if you see an airplane on top of your bars.

btw, you asked this question in your other thread, no need to double post.

It turns off all the radios (WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular) so you're compliant with federal and airline regulation.

As LtKen says, it also allows you to turn off those things and still connect to the internet via WiFi.

My bad. I've never actually used it for anything, I just know it's there if I ever want to...

Hookbill, if it turns off WiFi how can u still connect to the internet?

So r u saying that if I'm on an aircraft and in airplane mode I can still surf the net?

I have been using it to allow me to fly a plane. Wow, guess I was wrong. You can turn WIFI on while in airplane mode to connect up.

It doesn't turn off wifi. It turns off cellular and bluetooth.

Airplane mode does turn off wifi, however you can then turn wifi back on individually if you wish.

Wifi is also required to be off on planes

Quite a few airlines offer WIFI in-flight.

Yeah, the actual rule is a function of the airline, but disabling all radio is the accepted general standard unless the airplane has inflight WiFi.
