No notifications after idle time

I am having an issue with my moto droid that I didn't have until recently. Whenever my phone has been idle for a number of minutes (as little as 10), I don't receive any new notifications for texts and my alarm doesn't go off like it should.

Has any one else experienced this problem or know of something to fix it? Needless to say it makes my alarm useless for waking me up in the morning.

It seems that after shutting the system down, and leaving it off for a while that the problem may have gone away. The alarm worked after 2 hours of non-use and I haven't been missing any text messages
