**No App icons on desktop | Reoccurring Issue**

This seems to be happening to people in various unrelated situations. I posted a thread about having this same issue a couple days ago, but no responses. I think there is a process that is failing on the phone. I forget what it's called, but I think it's the equivalent of explorer.exe in Windows. Today, I got an error message saying something like Android yada yada process failed. Don't remember. After I hit OK or whatever, all my icons came back up. No need for a reboot. Off to find that process in the error logs. Hmmm, where are the error logs?

This happens to me every couple of days for no reason. I would assume that it's something Google and Moto are aware of, and probably fixed in future 'iterations' of the software.

Add me to the list. I don't know whee the folders are stored but the have vanished a few times on me. First time was regen my phone got replaced. I had no icons when they swapped my battery and card into the knew phone. I recreated them. Then one day I had two sets of them and had to delete a set. I rebooted after playing with the new multi touch maps and the vanished again. I turned the desktop off (not a reboot) and they were back. Later today they were gone again. T his time closing all apps with task manager brought them back again. I only remade them that first time but today I had a set dups again. Not just v folders but even icons too. Never rooted phone. I do have eave secure but not the other apps listed here.

I've had it happen too. Sometimes I reboot the phone, sometimes I have to take the battery out in order to reboot it. Wifi button sometimes gets stuck too. Haven't rooted the phone or been using Home++ and all this starting happening recently after having the phone since the beginning of December.

Luckily I haven't had this happen for a while now....too bad I don't know how I'm preventing it from happening..
Im tellin ya, do a nandroid backup. I bet you can reproduce the issue. At least i can. As long as i dont backup there is no issue :icon_ banana: And once i do two soft resets and they are back till my next backup:icon_ banana:

My phone did it again this morning. It came out of the docking cradle this morning with a very clean desktop. I decided to bring it into the store during lunch...hoping it didn't fix itself before I got there. I've fixed it by just locking the screen before but this time the icons stayed gone. The store did a battery pull and they came back. What they did ask was about my wallpaper. She asked where I got it and I said it was just an image. She said they weren't sure but the thinking was the icons are still there but behind the wallpaper. Interesting idea. One thing we noticed is that when flipping from one of the 3 standard desktops to the next the image didn't slide as much as it did after the reboot.

So...those having this issue...have you swapped out the default wallpaper and if so with what? I think mine came from a wallpaper app from the market. Beach Wallpaper maybe?

Has happened to me today.. twice.. running non stock non rooted
no home replacement apps and stock grey colored background.. had to turn off phone or pull battery..

+1.

Has happened to me three times. Not rooted, doing noting unusual. Frustrating, requires a reboot. Come on google/moto. Boo..

Anyone find a solution yet? I have the Eris and this has been happening at least twice a day. I am using one of the wallpapers they provide. One thing that I've noticed is that it tends to do it right after I remove a widget or app from any of the home screens and then try to save the scene again. It's really annoying. When I try to go to that scene again (from settings) only the apps/widgets I removed will show up. Really weird... and really annoying. Other than that I love the phone, but it would be great to have a solution to this.

This started happening to me a couple of weeks ago. About every couple of days at random. From reading this thread it looks like we have ruled out wallpapers and apps. It also appears that bringing into the store just has them guessing. Whenever it happens I power off and power back on and everything returns. Very annoying though.
