no 2G GSM data on Three (UK)

Hi,

I have a Droid 4 which I've been using on Three UK for a few months, however I've been unable to convince it to make a data connection when on 2G (GSM) signal.

When I have a 2G signal the signal meter has a R next to it to indicate that the phone thinks it's roaming. This isn't that surprising because Three's 2G coverage is supplied by another network (Orange), but is not what I've seen on other phones. Once connected like this the phone will not display a data-connected letter/symbol next to the signal meter, and will not make a data connection. I have tried enabling data roaming for all trips, but that doesn't help.

Anyone got any ideas?

I haven't tried calling them, but i'm pretty sure they'd tell me it's not a supported device.

When I tried this again today, whenever on a 2G "roaming" connection my phone is now telling me that roaming data is disabled, despite me having enabled it for all trips.
