Newb question: "apk"

Sal

Member
Does "apk" just mean the same thing as "application"? Sorry if that's a dumb question. Been on here a while and get flummoxed by all the acronyms and geek lingo and the wiki definition of "apk" confused me...thanks

APK stand for Android Package, and is simply the executable/installable filetype that the OS uses. Not a dumb question at all. Analogous to EXE or MSI in Windows.

Ahh. Now I get how you all are using it here so much. Apps would have ".apk" as their file designation...thanks!

Actually I would suggest that apks are sort of like msi files. But when we start quibbling over these things, our true dork colors show through.
