new to rooting, help please!

so earlier i rooted my driod 1 with superoneclick. this is my first time rooting, ok?
im wondering what do i do next? i no install a custom rom, im unsure how to do this. and also i wanna b able to overclock it seeing as how im very unpleased with the speed this thing is running at now and the battery dying very fast i dont like. any thoughts or suggestions will be very appreciated. thanks alot
