new to roms, plz help with a few questions

i read that kernels is the "who you talk to" when interacting with your phone but what is the need for one, and what one should i use if i need one.

also, im running cyanogen 6.0.1 due to i hear that it supports the wiimote but it dont work, im looking for a good rom that will let me support the wiimote, plus hulu access wont hurt eather.

im sure there is more i need to know but cant think of it at this time. any help would be awesome, thanks a ton in advance.

Incredibly Re-Engineered is a pretty sweet Rom, it includes Hulu and my Wiimote worked fine with it.

now what is all this about kernels i hear about....

1st do i need one, if so why
2nd what are the benifits to having one
3rd if i do need one what would be a good one to get for the re-engineered ROM
