New to Mods

I just rooted my phone today, and would like to now begin playing with all of my new options. Unfortunately, I don't know much of what I'm doing, and need someone to suggest a couple of cool Roms, and instructions on how to flash them in.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP SAVED FIRST (all caps? Yeah its that important). That is the equivalent of "base" in tag. Its your fall back to safe point. Easiest way to load them up is to use ROM manager. You will need the paid version which is worth the money for learning to flash ROMS. ROMS not listed in ROM manager can be downloaded to your SD card and installed via ROM manager. Best is simply what fits your needs. Flash one then try it for a few days then do another. Cyanogen Mod 7 (CM7) is pretty good from what I hear. Just make sure what you install is for your phone. Good luck and have fun!
