New to DroidX and frustrated

Hi all,

I am new to the DroidX (had a BlackBerry for years!) I love the phone but I am frustrated with the email. I can recieve well over 600 emails a day - not that I need to do anything with all of them, other than read for information. With my BB I could either delete from the handheld or delete from both the handheld and mailbox. This was a HUGE timesaver when I made it back to my computer. Now I am having to duplicate my efforts.

So I am looking for ANY advise on any application that will help me accomplish this or sadly I am going to have to go back to the BlackBerry.

I tried K9mail -- however I don't see where I am able to delete from the server. Any other suggestions?

So the emails that I want to keep will have to stay on my DroidX until I can download from the server...then it would be safe to delete from the DroidX... Correct???

Right, keep them on the X. When you go check them on your laptop or whatever, if that is set up to remove from server when checking, the messages will be removed from the server AND the messages will also be removed from the X UNLESS you have "Sync remote deletions" UNchecked in K9's account settings.

Note, if you have more than one email account, you have to set up each one with these settings.

Other thoughts:
- you could set up every client that connects to your server to "leave mail on server" and "delete from server when I delete" and "sync remote deletions". This way, everything will stay "in the cloud" until you delete it
- you could forward all of your mail to gmail (or have gmail check your accounts), which can simplify things as it will always be "in the cloud"
- some mail servers allow IMAP and POP3. If you can switch to IMAP, it is always recommended because then you don't have to worry about what pulls things off of the server. Everything will always be synced amongst all clients with IMAP.

WOW! This is going to turn my life around and keep the X in my life! I did everything and it is working like a charm! Thank you!

I just have to say one thing...I called verizon about this and I called Motorola. I spoke to a level 2 Android Tech and neither one had a solution, other than you have 30 days to return the phone.

Thanks again for the help..I will be back if something else arises!

I have had no problems deleting emails either with the droidx, I find I dont even open my email on my computer anymore

..yeah.. unfortunately before 10 months ago, even the skilled moto and verizon techs weren't used to answering many questions harder than "how do i change the ringtone?"... so there is a learning curve for them as well.. (I still love VZW and Moto CS though, they may not have all the answers but they are sooooo nice about it!)...

..glad to have you in the world of Android now... (I too am a former blackberry user so I feel your email pain..)

I am hoping that "aminaked" can help me again....

K9 is working for me and your suggestion were awesome. I need to change my signature and get the canned "K9 signature" off. I know where to go, but I can't get it to save.

Any idea?

Hi, for each account, go to account settings > composition defaults, where you can change your sig. After changing it, use your phone's back arrow and it should save--works for me.

If you have other "Identities" you can set sigs for each one under "Manage identities". Again, use the back arrow to lock in the changes.

I was not using my back button -- that was the problem! Thanks again.

Do you know of an app that will allow me to listen to either WAV files or GSM files.
