New to Droid X

I just got my DX yesterday. I gave my D1 to my wife because of vision issues with the small screen on the D1. I would like to know how to boot the DX into recovery mode? Is there away to do this with out being rooted? Also if I do root this thing can I better performance out of it since you cannot change the kernel?

Depending on what you do with your rooted phone, yes you can squeeze better performance out of it. You can remove various bloatware and stuff
