Sorry for what may seem to be stupid questions but I'm new to this phone, came from a Crackberry...

What does push mean?

I'm also trying to send email w/ my work account, I can get the mail but can't send. I get the Authentication Send error and I've tried ever setting I can change, been at this for a few hours... Getting a little frustrated. I've had it work on other phones...

I've got gmail working just fine....

Thanks for any help...

If your company has a tech department, you should ask them for the email server settings.

Oh and push means it "pushes" the emails from the server to your phone.

What protocol are you using (pop, imap, exchange)? You're settings on your phone should be the same as on your computer.

Both appear to be the same. In your OP you asked about push. Did you modify any setting for push. I've not used or seen an X so I can't provide concrete guidance, sorry.

I have a Droid and use the corporate email client for exchange and K9 for my gmail.

An possible option would be to forward all of your work email to your Gmail which will get to your X. That may, however, not be in accordance with your works security policies and procedures so you should check with your IT/security folks first.

Thanks Mike...

I did tweek some of the push settings but put them all back to normal.

K-9 seems to be working, sent one to my gmail account, hasn't gotten there yet....we'll see!

Great! I like K9. There are lots of setting that change the view and selection for mutli.

Hope you enjoy the phone!

There seems to be a setting that needs to be changed on the stock app but there is no place to do it...

I was able to get K-9 working after I changed a setting, no signin required...and security set to none....

guess the stock app is too strick or idiot proof???

First, If you arent using corporate sync, then I suggest K9 as the stock email client even in IMAP mode will not delete your messages from the server. K9 will.

As to your mail issues, are you sure your mail server doesnt require auth? Without it, its saying that nayone can connect to your mail server and send mail through it. Your laptop might have some other settings from the IT department that identifies it when it conencts to your corporate servers.

jwb

Have you tried a different app?

No, are there others I should try?
