New to D2.. Stupid Asurion

So I'm working on my 4th Droid. #1 screen went blank randomly, #2 met a bitter end on Bourbon St, #3 got the blank screen again. #3 was a refurb from Asurion, just found out they are out of originals and sending me a D2.

Looking for any suggestions for what to do with this model. I never rooted the D1 because it didn't contain the bloatware and with LauncherPro I was perfectly content with stock software. Looking at this thing I'm thinking I have no choice but to root and was looking for suggestions on what to run? Is there was a rom out there superior to others or just stick with rooted stock... Pretty much just trying to figure out the favorite setup people have. Not really interested in overclocking and such just want bloatware gone and to be able to tether, etc...

Thanks in advance!

I'm currently running rooted stock and its just fine for me... for now. I'm sure i'll be adding a new rom soon. But if you just want to get rid of bloat all you really need is root and titanium backup.

Same here, I am perfectly comfortable with it rooted stock as it meets all my requirements.

Cool thanks for the input. I figured that was the way to go, just haven't paid attention to the D2 yet to know if there was a fairly bug free rom that everyone used. Soon as this thing gets here I'll play with some SuperOneClick, root and be good to go..

Thanks again!

Stock D2 is not bad, and if you are not into changing things you may be good to go.

But there are Roms available when you feel like making some changes.
