Leaked images of cases for the new 2015 Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 have hit the web. The best part about these images is that the seemingly confirm the existence of a fingerprint scanner on both devices. This was already suggested by previous rumors, so it's nice to get a confirmation.

Here's a quote with links and details,

Specifically, photos from MKBHD and Steve Hemmerstoffer show new cases for the 2015 Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 handsets, respectively. Each case has multiple openings on the back, which suggests that there will be a spot on the back of the phone for a fingerprint scanner that will be used for various purposes, including unlocking the handset, logging into apps, and paying via Android Pay at stores that support wireless payments from mobile devices. ~ BGR

It's funny how this is a perfect example of how tech innovations need to come to market at the right time, and be implemented properly to catch mainstream attention. Back in December of 2011 Motorola actually released the first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor: the Motorola Atrix. It was a mediocre implementation, but it was also just a bit ahead of its time. It wasn't until Apple improved on the idea and stuck it in a later iPhone that it became a marketable feature. Now it seems to be popping up in almost every new phone. Go figure...

You can see all three images in the thread below, and don't forget to drop by our dedicated Nexus 5 2015 and Nexus 6 2015 sections:

A lot of laptops were left out in the cold with updates to their fingerprint readers once Apple bought the company that had previously supplied them.

I wonder who all of these phone companies are using for their scanners now?
