It's no secret that HTC will soon launch their new M7 at a press event scheduled for February 19th. Despite this we have some newly leaked intel suggesting the M7 will not be launched alone. Supposedly, HTC plans to unveil two more devices at the same time. One is designed as a mid-range offering, and the other should be more budget-friendly. Here's what we found in the rumor,
The M4 -
- 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
- 4.3-inch 720 p display
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB of onboard storage
- 13 megapixel rear camera
- 1500 mAh battery
- Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
- 1.0GHz ARM Cortex processor
- 512MB of RAM
- 3.5-inch HVGA (480 x 320) display
- 5 megapixel rear camera and no front shooter
- 1400 mAh battery
- Android Ice Cream Sandwich
When looking at the G2, it's hard to even call it a budget device. With those specs, it looks more like a lost forgotten 2011 device someone found lying around on a shelf. The batteries on both of these devices follow in HTC's usual tradition of being woefully underpowered.
We can only hope that the M7 will buck this trend. Of course, we will inform you of any further details as soon as they emerge.
Update: While the secondary players of the HTC announcement might not be super-exciting, HTC is really trying to build hype for the M7. We've update this story with a new video of HTC CEO Peter Chou getting amped up about the new device at an internal company event. Thanks for the tip, GreneFroggie!
