New AT&T Commercial

Iphone users browse faster with AT& Ts 4g network.

Isn't that false advertising??

This reminds me of the thread on this forum about a month ago... where at&t iPhone users were being told that their phones would jump to 4g as soon as it was available... iPhone 4 users were in that mix.... not gonna happen.

As for this... idk.... the new pad is 4g isn't it? Related to this... no... but I had to ask

Not exactly. If they're surfing it via wifi with a AT&T 4g LTE hotspot then it's true. But yes it is easily misinterpreted/misrepresented as the iPhone has no LTE radios

Yeah Thisbis such a joke. Apple updated iOS to 5.1 and with it came a change from the 3g symbol to 4G which is not true as the HSPA+ network is not a 4G network. Even LTE is built off the EVDO standard.

T-Mobile has been calling the same network 4G forever and nothing has changed. AT&T is just playing catch-up to the same type of marketing.

Plus, I believe even LTE isn't true 4G based on the original definition. There's an article about that somewhere...

True. The real 4G 100MB/s and 1GB/s specs are a far cry from the current "4G" networks. Sadly, by the time we get to true 4G speeds, I'll probably be too old to see a screen smaller than 92 inches.

Well I read somewhere too (lol) that Verizon's 4G network *can* do 100 down, just needs upgrades which we probably won't see any time soon it's like Verizon EVDO rev. 0 upgraded to Rev. A- faster data speeds, same network.
