New, and hope to not need to be here often

I got an original A855 to have internet access for my week in New York a couple of months ago. Gave up the phone service after a month, but am happy to have something smaller than my laptop around the house. (We are so spoiled.) I've had it on silent except for phone calls from the start, but tonight it started "dinging" on every icon selection or change of state. It's still set to silent, but I now can't shut it up. I did shut it down and restart, but that changed nothing.

So I'm a frustrated, light user. If it keeps misbehaving like this, I'll be a very light user.

:welcome: to the forum. This may be a long shot, but go to settings/Accessibility and see if anything out of the norm is checked.

Yes, the "Accessibility" box was checked. It is now clear, and its sub-categories are also unchecked. Very good thoughts are being sent in your direction. I hope someone makes you as happy as you have made me today.
